The 'B S R' Journey- A Bliss with a Miss!!
“13 May 2013:Monday-21 December 2015:Monday” !! College to Corporate Life- An Unforgettable Journey!!
The most unexpected moment has arrived to say goodbye, which is never easy, especially when you have been part of the B S R family for a little over 2 and a half years .It has been a fantastic journey and a great learning experience where I have enjoyed each and every moment and I appreciate having had the opportunity to work with each one with whom I have interacted. Before I bid goodbye I would take this opportunity to share a few special moments of my articleship tenure in the firm.
All the partners of the firm have been an inspiration and bonding with few of them on the cricket field or during the offsite was a very special moment. Whenever I watch Richard Rekhy (our CEO) and many other KPMG directors on news channels discussing the important issues of the country and knowing that our firm is playing an important role in all the initiatives of the Government for the development of our country makes me feel proud to be a part of the KPMG Family.
Everyone has a X factor in their lives that motivates them to do well and make them successful. I have always had the “S” Factor in this firm who have always been with me during the good and the bad times and have been very influential in my tenure and the 3 most important “S” factors are Smitha Ganesh (who has left the firm), Sandesh Kamath and Sandeep Kukreja.
There is always a saying that when the foundation is strong the building then stands strong. I was very nervous during my first audit as I had never had a practical experience of auditing in my previous firm. However my first Client is where I worked with Smitha Ganesh who was very helpful and patient to teach me the basics of the auditing procedures which is still fresh in my memory and can never be forgotten. That really helped me to calm down my nerves and get used to our firm’s auditing procedures. My foundation was luckily very strong under her guidance.
Working with Sandesh Kamath , Ankita Kumari and Nithya for another statutory audit was by far that was the best experience I had ever had while doing an audit. There was great camaraderie among the team members and there was no single moment of worrying or tension during the course of the audit. Sandesh had and has always been very helpful. He is always available for any help at any time be it for any doubt relating to work or for studies. He is an inspiration for all the juniors and always a great Guide. Ankita is the most cheerful person and she had always ensured that everyone had a smile on their faces while at work and there is no situation to be tensed at all. Nithya was my first Senior SA and was really co-operative in teaching me all the excel shortcuts, client background and always ensured that I was made to be a part of the already “Experienced team”.
Henceforth I worked with many managers, seniors, and juniors and always tried to put in my best foot forward to complete the audit in due course of time. I admire Rahul Dravid a lot and have always learnt and followed – “ A Never Say No” attitude from him. This was advantageous most of the times and disadvantageous at times.. Working on clients with different teams is by far the most challenging experience but a very successful one. I titled my Tenure as a blissful journey but with a Miss. No journey can be perfect and as expected. One experiences ups and downs always. My one and only such disappointment was that I was unsuccessful in receiving a “Kudos”(A Reward given to employees who have impressed) during this tenure. I have always worked with a positive frame of mind and always remembered that in a CRICKET match when a batsman scores 100 and a bowler takes a 5 wicket haul its either one of them who get the Man of the Match award even though both the players played an equal important role for the team to win. I have always considered myself an important part of the team and this might sound to be being Over confident but it’s not as Until one doesn’t think themselves to be an important part of the team then they can never be part of the team itself. On a lighter note, there was my colleague who received 2 Kudos and I had asked to her return one and I shall buy as the season of #AwardWapsi was going on in the entire country (Hope it’s taken as a humor and not seriously :P)
Last but not the least, I would take this opportunity to thank Sandeep Kukreja. Right from taking my interview while joining and my exit interview now , I have learnt a lot from him. He along with Dejo and Arjun VN played a major role in my articleship career. Sandeep was the “Go to” Person for anything let it be if I was not satisfied with performance review or if I needed an emergency leave. Playing with him in the BPL (B S R Premier League) (All the best for BPL VI), working on many clients together and getting appreciated by him was really motivational. It was great to be working under him and he always took care of his team like a family. Working with his coolest team was the most enjoyable moments.
A very Big "Thank You"– Shane, Jacob, Pooja, Nitin, Karthik Srinivasan, Gireesh, Sasi, Ankit Daga, Dushyanth ,Megha, Radhika, Alfrieda, Hemalatha, Apeksha, Chirag, Maneesh, Vishal Kirthic, Ritu , Surendrakumar, Navneet Mishra, Ankit Shah, Suheil, Sarah, Shruthi, Deepti, Aishwarya Kendole, Manasi, Yash, Vinod M and all my BPL and Cricket teammates and other colleagues for their support and guidance to excel in my career and with whom I have spent the wonderful moments, that would last a lifetime.. I am also very thankful to the Pritika, Catherine, Nisha, Sowmya and Pooja who were always there to guide me throughout the journey. I would also like the thank the Admin team and IT team for the continues support and help. I also thank Ninad, Sanat and Manish for helping a lot for E-audit!! I apologise if I have missed anyone’s names but thank you to all once again.
I specially want to thank the Security staff whom I have irritated the most by calling them every day for the POD details and they very patiently used to give all the details without making any fuss.
Even though I will miss each one at my workplace, I am looking forward to this new challenge and to start a new phase in my career and always wish to join back in the future hoping the doors of KPMG are always open for me.
I would like to conclude my this journey with a well-known Hindi Shayari (modified):
बात ऐसी हो की जज़्बात कम ना हो खयालात ऐसे हों की कभी ग़म ना हो Audit Place के कोने में इतनी सी जगहरखना की खाली - खाली सा लगे जब हम नाहों !! ( In Short: Hope My absence is felt)
It was a pleasure knowing each and every one.
PS: The views are personal of the writer and no intention to hurt anyone. The names mentioned above are the names of personnels im workplace.
