Spreading Smiles :)

                                     Spreading Smiles :)

"Smile, it is the key that fits the lock of everybody's heart"- Anthony J. D'Angelo

Happy Evening everyone. 2017 is nearing its end and this year ,as every year, has gone by rather quickly. Many may wonder what have they done or what they should have done better throughout the year. Some would have been busy in their work, some would have been busy in giving their exams or some would have enjoyed different moments with their loved ones. Life is all too fast paced but in this circus of life we forget the most important aspect of living life and thats to have a "Smile" on our face. This blog is my way of just trying to get a smile on each one's face and  encouraging others to do something good without expecting anything in return.

In August 2015, when I attended one of my Communication Skills classes in Mumbai, we were divided in different groups and one of the group of students named their group as "Spreading Smiles". It was just so refreshing and just their group name brought a smile on everyone's face. Making others happy and getting a smile on their face isn't a cakewalk. There are stand up comedians, comic artists and other comedians who try their heart out to keep the audience happy. My theory of "Spreading Smiles" isn't just about comedy or an one-off activity to bring a smile. It is a long, continuous but an enjoyable journey.

Perfection is an art that cant be attained by anyone, not even by GOD. Mistakes are committed by every single person. The only problem lies in understanding what is actually a mistake. One person might not consider it to be his/her fault but the same activity may be considered as the biggest blunder of one's life by another person. The best solution for any mistake is to learn from it.  Making a Promise isn't a solution to everything. There will be situations wherein you might have to break the promise too . Even Lord Krishna once said "In order to protect my devotees I must break my promise". You don't have to explain yourself as to why you broke the promise because only God and you are witness to the situation and other person will not even try to understand. Instead of giving a promise, give an assurance that the mistake wont be repeated and try your best to learn from it and not repeat it.

Bringing a smile, on atleast one person's face , will make you forgive yourself of the wrongdoings you had committed.  Trust me, the happiness of making someone else happy, out of your own actions is the best feeling in the world. I might have bought tears on the faces of some of the most beautiful souls but instead of repenting it, all I tried was to double their happiness.  Being in the field of accountancy and finance, in financial terms, I always believe in the 3:1/1:3 ratio. For every one mistake, irrespective of big or small one, give three times the happiness to that person. Dont feel disheartened at those who still stick to one mistake and ignore the happiness you give. Other's reaction shouldn't affect our action. Have the self-confidence that the happiness you gave someone will be valued and will be realised one day or the other. Being confident on yourself is completely different from being over confident. When expectation is nil, happiness is sky high. Just do it selflessly and spread the happiness and even if people aren't realising always remember, GOD is watching you.

You'll can call it as my New Year Resolution or some may even call it as a attention-seeking stunt or even show off, but this is my goal. Goal is to Spread Smiles and try keeping atleast one person happy.  I'm a person who has seen a lot of failures till date. I have cried but I have celebrated them too.  When our Chartered Accountancy exam results are declared, we are afraid to ask others about their results.  People who pass, share their happiness on social media and those who fail, sit dejected and switch off their phones. Why not share your failure on social media too or sharing the feeling with your close one? Cry it out ,you'll will feel better. There is no shame in failing to achieve something that is very difficult.  I am not shy of sharing my failure because the value of success is felt only once you have faced failure. Instead I feel proud when people come up to me and say they feel positive when they see my posts on how to face failure. Spreading happiness and letting everyone know about it isn't show-off. In the world of  corrupt politicians, rapes, death threats and other nuisance happening in the world and being posted on social media, imagine just putting up a post of a small child smiling because of your actions. Not only you will be happy, but it might just lighten up someone else's mood too.

I have started this mission called #SpreadingSmiles and its been 4 days since I actually thought about it. They might be very small actions but the smile it has brought  to others , it has been a really refreshing exercise. Visiting the NGOs for the blind children and mentally backward children has made me realise one thing- Life is too small to keep any kind of grudges. They, after being deprived of much of basic necessities, still have a smile. They teach you actual values of life.  When I wanted to take a pic with the blind kids, hearing the word photo, they had a smile on their face. Even after knowing they cant see themselves, yet they smiled. Their smile brought tears to my eyes but those were of joy just to see them happy. Getting a nice heavy meal for the maids who work at home, talking to the security guards , making elders happy or even your friends happy are small steps just to bring a smile on others.  Feed the dogs, the cats, the birds as a part of your daily routine as even they are a part of our lives. They might not have the smile to show their happiness but their love towards  us is the most innocent and honest one.

To all my dear readers and friends, come join me in this wonderful journey called Spreading Smiles. Time to make this world a happier place to live in. Spread the word. Get onto your social media profiles. Use "#SpreadingSmiles" and post pictures of the people or the children or anyone who had a smile on their face because of you. Sometimes "I'm Sorry" isn't enough for some of the mistakes to be forgiven. But never allow your past to blackmail the present into ruining a bright future. This work of making someone smile may not fetch you money, instead you may have to shell out your own hard money, but feeling of making someone happy is like a breathe of fresh air. Try it and feel the difference in your own life.

Signing off with the hope that atleast one person who reads this will follow and let me know about it. Till then keep smiling, spread happiness and never forget that you can still commit mistakes and there's nothing wrong about it but don't take them to heart. Always try to learn from the minor hiccups and continue to keep yourself and others happy and while in distress and sadness, just remember this dialogue from "Kal Ho Naa Ho" :
Aaj ... aaj ek hasi aur baant lo ... aaj ek dua aur maang lo ... aaj ek ansoon aur pee lo ... aaj ek zindagi aur jee lo ... aaj ek sapna aur dekh lo ... aaj ... kya pata, kal ho naa ho.
